Wabco has developed an app for mobile devices to monitor and control several safety systems on a truck and trailer.

OptiLink allows a driver access to 18 truck and trailer functions, including air suspension, brake release, rear blind-spot detection and tire-pressure monitoring, as well as traction control of a truck’s rear axle on slippery surfaces.

“Wabco’s OptiLink technology marks another milestone in remote management of safety and efficiency functions on truck-trailer combinations worldwide, while also offering considerable opportunity to improve return on investment on daily fleet transport business,” Nick Rens, president of the trailer systems, aftermarket and off-highway division, said in a statement.

The company said the app is the first in the industry to remotely control truck safety and efficiency systems and is available for Android and Apple mobile operating systems.

“Our new OptiLink mobile application enables fleet managers and drivers to further improve vehicle safety and efficiency, while enhancing driver effectiveness and comfort. In addition, OptiLink helps lower operational costs and supports better utilization of assets,” Rens said.

The app also includes news from the company, online technical resources for diagnostics and location finder for service partners.
