railer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. on Friday moved to secure tire availability in the wake of a strike at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

Wabash said in a statement that it ordered additional tires from two separate manufacturers to back up existing commitments from Goodyear.

The trailer manufacturer anticipates that it will have sufficient tires to maintain production for “a minimum of ten weeks.”

On Thursday, Goodyear announced that union workers at 12 of its U.S. plants went on strike after the tire manufacturer and United Steelworkers failed to reach an accord on a new labor contract. (Click here for previous coverage.)
