Volvo Renews Sponsorship of America’s Road Team

Volvo Trucks North America will continue to sponsor American Trucking Associations’ America’s Road Team for its 2011 season, the truck maker said.

“All of us at Volvo Trucks are very proud to continue as the sole sponsor of America’s Road Team,” Ron Huibers, senior vice president of sales and marketing at VTNA, said in a statement.

“We believe this is one of the most important and effective highway safety efforts out there,” he added.

VTNA announced its continued sponsorship at ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition, which began Saturday in Phoenix.

The Road Team uses a Volvo tractor to bring ATA’s image trailer to events around the country, educating the public about the trucking industry.

ATA selects 18 truck drivers, known in the program as Road Team Captains, to tour the country for two years and serve as ambassadors for the trucking industry.
