Volvo, Mack Introduce Transmission Fluids for Their AMTs

Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks both introduced new transmission fluids this week for their automated manual transmissions.

The companies, units of Sweden-based Volvo Group, both make their transmissions in the same Volvo Powertrain building in Hagerstown, Md.

Volvo I-Shift transmission fluid is a synthetic lubricant engineered specifically for its I-Shift AMT.

Depending on the vehicle and application, the SAE 75W-80 fluid is approved for drain intervals up to 500,000 miles, to help reduce operating costs, the truck maker said.

The product is the preferred transmission fluid for the I-Shift, which is now standard on all Volvo-powered trucks built for the North American market.

Mack’s Bulldog mDRIVE is also an SAE 75W-80 synthetic transmission fluid and is made for its mDRIVE AMT.
