Vitran Agrees in Principle to Buy Western LTL Carrier

oronto-based transportation and logistics firm Vitran Corp. said Monday that agreed it had agreed in principle to acquire the assets of Sierra West Express, a regional less-than-truckload carrier based in Nevada.

It would be the company’s first operational division the western United States. In the latest 12-month period, Sierra West had revenue of $16 million, Vitran said.

Terms of the pending agreement were not disclosed.



Vitran said it expects the transaction, subject to its board and other approvals, to close early in January.

Vitran is ranked No. 58 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
