uto parts maker Visteon Corp. is moving toward a deal under which as many as 15 of its manufacturing plants would be sold or returned to Ford Motor Co., its former parent company, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Executives of the two companies have said they have worked on a plant to restructure the financially troubled company, the Journal said, but some of the talks will depend on talks with the United Auto Workers union, which represents about 17,000 Visteon workers.

One plan being considered would transfer most of Visteon’s factories to Ford, though the auto maker is also working to line up other potential buyers, the paper reported.
