Vigillo’s ‘Carrier Select’ Program Upgrade Out Dec. 14

With access to Compliance, Safety, Accountability scores temporarily unavailable for public view, companies may turn to Portland, Oregon-based Vigillo for similar data and applications.

CEO Steve Bryan, told Transport Topics that an upgrade of Vigillo's “Carrier Select” data platform would be unveiled Dec. 14. The system consists of CSA scores, separate from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's, for carriers seeking safety performance information.

“We think we’re in a very unique position now to make significant headway in this broker-shipper market,” Bryan said Dec. 10.

Earlier in the week, Bryan explained, “The communication of critical safety data between motor carriers and brokers and shippers continues without interruption” through his company’s applications.

For years, industry leaders publicly voiced opposition to CSA’s scores, claiming they misrepresented most carriers’ safety records. American Trucking Associations’ leadership had strongly pushed for an overhaul of the CSA program.

Dave Osiecki, ATA’s chief of national advocacy, said that fixing the way CSA’s “flawed scores” are gathered positions FMCSA on a path toward achieving “accuracy in regulatory oversight.”

Under the new transportation law, the FAST Act, FMCSA has to oversee an extensive review of CSA and prepare for members of Congress an overhaul strategy for the program.
