U.S. Terror Threat Level Not Rising, Official Says

The Department of Homeland Security has no plans to increase the terror level for the United States in the wake of the terrorist attacks in London, Bloomberg News reported, citing a DHS spokeswoman.

Terrorists attacked the London subway system and a bus during the morning rush hour Thursday, but spokeswoman Katy Montgomery told Bloomberg News that DHS had no intelligence about a similar attack in the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announded that the U.S. had raised the terror alert to high from elevated for the mass transit portion of the nation's transportation network, including subways, inter-city passenger rails and buses.

The terror alert for the rest of the country and the freight transportation system did not rise and remained at elevated, DHS said.
