UPS Deploys 245 ‘Green’ Trucks to Colo., Calif.

CNG Vehicles Sent to California & Colorado

UPS Inc. said it has deployed 245 new delivery trucks powered by compressed natural gas to cities in Colorado and California.

The company said 140 new CNG-fueled trucks have been deployed over the past month to Denver and more to four cities in California, including 59 to West Los Angeles.

The vehicles are part of UPS’s continued effort to reduce its emissions from the use of fossil fuels like gasoline and diesel and lower its carbon footprint, the company said in a statement.

The truck bodies are identical externally to the signature brown trucks that comprise the UPS fleet Marked with CNG decals, the company expects the trucks to yield a 15% emissions reduction over the cleanest diesel engines available in the market today.



UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
