UPS Inc., with its large international business, was cautious in its reaction to England’s decision to leave the European Union on June 24.

UPS said, “UPS will work with our customers to provide a high level of service as new trade and customs regulations are enacted following the UK’s exit decision. Vibrant global trade has proven to enrich people’s lives through elevated economic activity, greater choice and more competitive products.

“We will closely monitor changes in applicable laws and provide brokerage, customs clearance and other services, along with our global integrated shipping network,” UPS’s statement continued. “Our aim is to ensure our customers have the least possible complexity when importing to, or exporting from, the U.K. and Europe.”

The surprise victory of the campaign to leave the European Union upended global markets on June 24 and forced companies to examine next steps for their business.
