Universal Truckload Services’ fourth-quarter profit fell 33.3% to $1.8 million, or 11 cents per share, from $2.6 million, or 16 cents, the previous year.
Net income included a charge of $600,000, or 4 cents per share. Revenue declined 21% to $139.8 million, the company said in a statement.
Its full-year profit fell 67.1% to $4.9 million, or 31 cents a share, from $14.9 million, or 93 cents, in 2008. Revenue dropped 33.7% to $256.3 million.
Full-year truckload revenue fell 28.4% to $313.6 million, including $17.1 million from acquisitions completed since the second quarter of 2008.
Brokerage revenue in 2009 fell 45.8% to $112.9 million and included $3.1 million from acquisitions completed since the first quarter of 2008.
Last year’s intermodal revenue fell 32.1% to $76.7 million, which included $800,000 from acquisitions completed in the first half of 2008.
