irsten Welton, who has served for a year as editorial assistant, will now be advertising/production coordinator.

Suzanne Hess, formerly publishing coordinator for the books and directories division of TTPress, will assume Welton’s position of editorial assistant.

"I’m happy to be able to retain valuable workers, and to employ their talents in new assignments. These two jobs are critical to our efforts at Transport Topics," said Publisher Howard S. Abramson.

In her new advertising role, Welton will be responsible for the tracking and trafficking of ads —- scheduling and coordinating the ads running both in the Transport Topics newspaper and online at TTNews.com — plus preparing for trade shows.

The new job responsibilities "will give me a look at a different side of the publishing industry," said Welton, who has worked for Transport Topics since her graduation from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton. Va., in 2001. There, she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and was managing editor of the college newspaper.

Hess in her new position will provide general administrative assistance for TTPG and contribute to the editorial product of Transport Topics, including preparing items for People, Fleets and Events.

Hess has worked for American Trucking Associations for 19 years, the last two with TTPG where she was instrumental in helping TTPG take over production of various economics and statistics publications that were previously produced by ATA. She both edited and helped produce those publications.
