merican Trucking Associations said in a new report the driver turnover rate for large truckload carriers fell to 120% at an annualized rate in the first quarter of 2005.
The latest figure was 16% lower than the record-high figure of 136% set in the fourth quarter of last year, ATA said.
The drop in turnover was probably linked to many large carriers implementing driver pay increases during the quarter,” the report said.
While large truckload carriers saw their labor situation improve, smaller carriers saw their turnover rate remain unchanged at 102%, ATA said.
