ontreal-based transportation firm TransForce Income Fund said Tuesday it had acquired Rebel Transport Ltd., in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Rebel Transport is a specialized trucking company that serves the oil and gas and related construction industries in western Canada. It generates about $11.1 million annually.

General Manager Ron Lystang will continue to lead the Rebel’s management team following the acquisition and will report to Darshan Kailly, TransForce’s Canadian Freightways unit’s chief executive officer.

“The acquisition of Rebel Transport will enable TransForce . . . to benefit from our increased participation, through our operating subsidiary Canadian Freightways, in the growing oil and gas exploration business," said Alain Bédard, TransForce’s Chairman and CEO.

TransForce is ranked No. 26 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
