he Texas state Department of Transportation on Thursday unveiled its development plan for the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Portions of the 370-mile toll road, which would offer motorists an alternative to traveling on Interstate 35, could open as soon as 2013, the Morning News said.

Traveling the entire corridor will cost truckers $216.45, or 58.5 cents a mile by the time the first portions of the tollroad are complete, according to the plan.

Revised estimates put the total cost of the project at about $8.8 billion, up from initial estimates of $6 billion, the Morning News said.

The corridor’s development plan was prepared by Cintra Zachry, a partnership between Spanish toll road operator Cintra and Texas’ Zachry Construction Corp.
