LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thermo King introduced three new power management features, including an electric power jack charger, boost charger and auto-start module, designed to offer greater durability, safety and efficiency.

The unit of Ingersoll Rand made the announcements  here during the Mid-America Trucking Show.

As the transport industry workforce ages, electric power jacks are becoming a mainstay of doing business to prevent injury and increase uptime, Thermo King said.

The electric power jack charger delivers 120 volts of power to the inside of trailers, which provides a convenient power source for electric pallet jacks, the company said. It is designed for under-the-trailer installation, which keeps the electronics out of the trailer where damage can occur.

Also, the boost charger has three-stage battery charging to maximize battery life and ensure tractor power can be matched with other methods of power generation in a smart manner. It delivers power safely, Thermo King said, through the seven-way circuit.

The boost charger is available in 20- and 35-amp models and delivers greater charging output than competitive products at a lower cost, Thermo King said.

Also, the auto-start module automatically activates the company’s Precedent series alternator to charge if power levels in a refrigerated trailer drop too low. It also provides low-voltage protection for the auxiliary battery to ensure liftgate operation or that lights are running when they are needed.
