new Tennessee law restricting heavy-duty trucks to the two right lanes on many interstates has taken effect, but cannot be enforced until signs are posted, a state official said.

Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kim Keelor told Transport Topics in early November it “could take as long as two more months” to finish installing the signs.

The law, which went into effect Oct. 28, requires big rigs to stay in the two right lanes of highways with three or more lanes. TDOT has “60 days from the date the law took effect to complete signage installation,” Keelor said.
