SmarTire Files Patent Application for Pressure Monitoring System

marTire System, a manufacturer of wireless tire monitoring systems, last Wednesday filed a patent for an external valve sensor used in its pressure monitoring systems for commercial vehicles.



The system is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2007, SmarTire said in a release.

“SmarTire's external valve sensors will reduce the installation costs of tire pressure monitoring systems and enable faster implementation for large fleets during retrofit in the aftermarket,” said David Warkentin, vice president of sales and marketing for SmarTire. Transport Topics


InCab University Adds Instructional Technologies’ Driver Safety Program to Offerings

InCab University, which offers college-level courses to truck drivers, on Friday added Instructional Technologies’ Tread-1 driver safety program to its curriculum.

The Tread-1 program offers courses designed for truck drivers in the areas of operations, regulations, and safety, InCab University said in a statement.

Datatrac Corp. Partners With Psion Teklogix

/h4> Psion Teklogix, a provider of provider of wireless data collection, imaging and radio frequency identification systems, has partnered with communications systems company Datatrac Corp. to provide mobile computing systems for the logistics industry.

Under the partnership, Datatrac will work with Psion to provide data capture and real-time updates for the companies’ mutual customers.

“Psion Teklogix mobile computing solutions are a natural extension of our eTrac system, and through this partnership, we will provide the tools needed to manage critical data on the front lines of the delivery business," said Garland Duvall, chief executive officer of Datatrac. Transport Topics
