Telvent, Computer Sciences Corp., to Enhance Md. Transportation Management System

Telvent Farradyne, the U.S. traffic business arm of Spanish information technology firm Telvent GIT S.A., will collaborate with Computer Sciences Corp. on enhancements for the Maryland State Highway Administration’s traffic management system.

Under the agreement, Telvent Farradyne will develop new software for the state’s Coordinated Highways Action Response Team system, while Computer Sciences Corp. will conduct the systems integration, development testing and deployment, Telvent said in a statement.



The work will include an upgrade that will enable communication and information sharing between Maryland’s system and external state and regional traffic management and traveler information systems, Telvent said. Transport Topics


CHEP to Launch Track and Trace System

Pallet and container pooling company CHEP last Wednesday announced it is developing a global tracking system for customers using its pallets and containers.

The new system uses the company’s 3-in-1 tags, which can be read through radio frequency identification technology, bar code, or visually, via a human readable identification number.

The system is currently in the pilot process, CHEP said. Transport Topics


TransCore, SiriCOMM Sign Reseller Agreement

SiriCOMM, a company that provides wireless internet technology to the transportation industry, and TransCore last Friday signed an agreement under which TransCore will resell the SiriCOMM’s InTouch technology.

As part of the deal, TransCore will market SiriCOMM's InTouch wireless Internet access service through its DAT load board network, which is located at about 1,200 U.S. truck stops. InTouch is currently available at over 470 truck stops nationwide

In addition, SiriCOMM will provide TransCore with Internet access for its new digital signage service at truck stops where the two companies collocate. Transport Topics


Tele Atlas, Lectronix Sign Deal to Provide Digital Maps for New Trucks

Tele Atlas on Monday announced a partnership with Lectronix aimed at providing Tele Atlas’ digital map data for new trucks.

Under the agreement, Lectronix, which develops and manufactures automotive electronics technology, will include Tele Atlas’ digital map data in navigation units the company plans to install in commercial vehicles. Transport Topics
