Wright Express' 3Q Earnings Rise

Wright Express, a company that provides payment processing and information management services to the trucking industry, reported Tuesday it earned $34.4 million, or 83 cents a share in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $6.2 million or 15 cents in 2005.

Wright said its earnings for the third quarter include a $31.1 million gain related to fuel-price derivative instruments the company uses to mitigate risks associated with fuel volatility. Excluding that gain, earnings totaled $16 million or 39 cents a share.



Revenue rose to $79.7 million from $67.4 million in the previous third quarter, the company said in a statement.

Operating income for the quarter rose to $39.1 million from $34.1 million in the third quarter of 2005. Transport Topics


Pervasive Software Provides Database Technology to GPSNet

Data management and integration software company Pervasive Software said it is providing its PSQL database technology to GPSNet Technologies, maker of AlliancePro Dispatch Software, a fleet management application.

GPSNet used the PSQL platform to create a load-balancing system that spans multiple server farms to route and track transactions across multiple customer databases.

Pervasive also said GPSNet is using its Data Exchange Real-Time Backup technology to create off-site data backups for use in the event of a major system failure. Transport Topics


Clean Diesel’s 3Q Loss Narrows

Clean Diesel Technologies, which develops and manufactures engine emissions reduction technology, said it lost $1.1 million or 4 cents a share in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $1.5 million or 9 cents in 2005.

Revenue for the third quarter rose to $339,000 from $166,000 in 2005, the company said Monday in a statement.

During the third quarter, Clean Diesel said four companies completed trials of its Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalysts and subsequently adopted the technology for their fleets. Transport Topics
