International to Offer Anti-Idling System by Spring
International Truck and Engine Corp. Monday it plans to offer an integrated factory-installed reduced idling system by the spring.The company said its “No Idle System” will provide a cost-effective means to reduce idling times and while saving an operator up to 0.8 gallons of fuel an hour.
International estimates that by reducing idling time by five hours a day, an operator could save 1,450 to 1,650 gallons of fuel annually, depending on whether a battery system or an APU is used. Transport Topics
Kenworth Offering Eaton's Vorad System on Some Models
Kenworth Truck Co. said it is offering Eaton’s Vorad collision-warning system with adaptive cruise control as an option for Kenworth’s T600, T800, T2000 and W900 models.The Vorad system provides forward and side-object detection through a forward-mounted antenna and one side sensor along with two visual displays.
The system offers audio and visual warnings that alert drivers to objects up to 500 feet ahead, around curves and can detect and track up to 20 vehicles at a time, Kenworth said. Transport Topics
Savi, Intermec Develop New RFID System
Savi Technology and Intermec Technologies Corp. Monday said they introduced a new active radio frequency identification reader system designed to read bar codes and active RFID tags to provide visibility in military operations.The system enhances the ability of defense logistics personnel to identify and keep track of in-transit military supplies marked with bar code and active RFID technologies, the two said.
irst orders and shipments of the dual-frequency reader system already have been made to the U.S. Department of Defense.
avi Technology holds DoD’s procurement contract for active RFID technologies and related software and services. Intermec is DoD’s prime contractor for mobile computing and related automatic identification technology systems and services, the two said in a statement. Transport Topics
