Schneider Logistics Releases Software

Schneider Logistics Inc. said Tuesday that it has released the newest version of its supply chain management software, Sumit.

The newest release, Sumit 8.0, improves upon the company’s previous releases, Schneider said. In addition to enhancing the program’s mature rate server, transportation management and other functions, Sumit 8.0 is available in Spanish and German to help overseas shippers using the software.

Schneider Logistics is a division of truckload carrier Schneider National Inc., which is ranked No. 9 on the 2002 Transport Topics 100 listing of the largest trucking companies in the United States and Canada. Transport Topics

Port of Los Angeles Adds Alternative Fuel Trucks to Fleet

The Port of Los Angeles said Thursday that it has added eight new alternative fuel trucks and cars to its existing fleet.

The port added four trucks, varying in size from medium- to heavy-duty, that are designed to reduce emissions in the industrial area and cost between $60,000 to $200,000 each. The purchase was partially funded by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

The trucks use either compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or dual-fuel engines depending on their size. Transport Topics

CargoSmart, Management Dynamics Partner to Market Software

Management Dynamics Inc. and CargoSmart Limited said Tuesday that they have formed a partnership to market CargoSmart’s Rate Explorer contract-management software.

CargoSmart is a software company, providing technology to the container transportation industry.

Management Dynamics is a full-function tariff and contract management provider based in East Rutherford, N.J. Transport Topics
