XM Raises Subscription Price 30%

XM Satellite Radio said Monday it was increasing its monthly subscription price to $12.95 from $9.99 effective April 2.

The increase is the first since XM’s 2001 launch, the company said. Its major competitor, Sirius Satellite Radio, also charges $12.95 a month.

The satellite radio provider said it would offer existing customers the current $9.99 monthly rate with a one-year prepaid plan and deeper discounts for mulitple-year prepaid plans.



XM, which has 3.2 million subscribers, said it has converted all of its music channels to a commercial-free format and added 21 traffic and weather channels. Transports Topics


Puradyn Filter Technologies Appoints CFO

Puradyn Filter Technologies appointed Cindy Gimler its chief financial officer, the company said Monday.

Gimler had been accounting manager for Puradyn from October 2003 to October 2004.

She has 15 years' experience as CFO of Universal Jet Aviation, controller for a nutrition company and as a financial analyst for Oxbow, an energy finance company.

Software Firm to Provide Supply Chain System to Ford

Vivecon Corp. said Monday it will supply a software system to Ford Motor Co. that enables automotive manufacturers quantify and manage demand uncertainty and supply chain management risk.

The company did not give a value on the arrangement. Logistics and trucking firms supply just-in-time services to automakers, including Ford.

“We are starting to see more . . . organizations like Ford shifting toward predictive, actionable analytics,” said George Devlin, Vivecon’s chief executive officer. Transport Topics


G-Log Says 2004 Annual Revenue Grew 15%

Logistics and transportation software company G-Log said Thursday its annual revenue grew by 15% for 2004 compared with 2003.

The company did not release specific earnings or revenue figures.

“Our growth can be attributed to issues such as global trade management, supply chain security, and [radio frequency identification] mandates that are seriously challenging companies today,” said David Cairns, the company’s chief executive officer.

EPA Awards $1.6 Mln. in Clean-Diesel Grants

The Environmental Protection Agency issued $1.6 million in grants Wednesday for diesel engine retrofit projects.

EPA acting Administrator Steve Johnson announced in St. Louis that the agency will fund 18 diesel retrofit projects as part of its new Clean Diesel Campaign.

The grant recipients will retrofit diesel vehicles and equipment with advanced technologies and cleaner fuels to reduce particulate matter and other pollutants, EPA said.

The campaign consists of both regulatory and voluntary efforts to reduce emissions from new and existing diesel engines by 2014. Projects to be funded include construction, agriculture and port equipment, waste haulers, locomotives, fire trucks and ambulances, EPA said. Transport Topics
