Company Rolls Out New Logistics System for LTLs
Cheetah Software Systems Inc. said last week that it has debuted a new system to monitor less-than-truckload shipments for retail and other customers.Cheetah Freight would allow companies operating medium- to large-sized vehicle fleets involved in parcel pick-up or delivery, the company said.
The system is wireless Web-enabled and can link to inventory, warehouse, order-entry and other supply management systems, the company said. Transport Topics
XM to Provide Real-Time Weather Service
XM Satellite Radio said it has partnered with Weather Works to provide an advanced real-time weather information service mobile users in the emergency, marine and aviation management markets.The new service would deliver real-time, graphical weather data to users across the country.
The partnership would also include Garmin International Inc., Head Up Technologies and LiveTV, all of which have said they would provide the service to their customers, XM said.
XM, a satellite radio provider, announced last week that it had 483,000-subscriber threshold. Transport Topics

Vector SCM, Descartes System Ink Logistics Deal
Vector SCM, a provider of logistics services for General Motors and a general fourth-party logistics company, and the Descartes Systems Group Inc. said that they have reached a deal on the sale of ocean freight management technology.Vector has chosen Descartes Ocean Contract Management to administer its ocean freight contracts and track shipments, the company said.
Descartes Ocean Contract Management provides automated carrier selection, contract negotiations and rate retrieval for users, the company said. Transport Topics
