Florida Seaport Rolls Out Automated Security System

Guardian Solutions said Monday that it has sold a GuardianWATCH automated video surveillance system to Port Manatee, the fifth-largest port in Florida.

The system, when fully operational, will use the port’s existing cameras to monitor the port for landside and seaside threats, the company said.

Guardian said its system is a step ahead of current video surveillance systems be-cause it uses computers for real-time analysis. Currently, most video systems are used as evidence after an incident, the company said.

The computer in the system can detect abnormal activity using motion sensors inside and outside and in adverse weather conditions, the company said. GuardianWATCH, according to the company, can track as many as 25 intruders and can give precise coordinates on intruders’ locations. Transport Topics
