Stephen Russell has left the board of directors at Celadon Group, a company he founded in 1985 and served as CEO of for nearly three decades.

CEO Paul Will, who succeeded Russell as chairman earlier this year, said Russell made the decision not to stand for reelection at the company’s annual meeting of shareholders on Dec. 11 for health reasons.

“We thank Steve for all his contributions to Celadon,” Will said in a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. “Steve guided Celadon to its position as one of North America’s most innovative and successful transportation and logistics companies.”

In connection with Russell’s resignation, Celadon’s board reduced its size from five to four directors.
