SkyBitz Launches Business Unit to Track Delivery Vehicles

Trailer-tracking provider SkyBitz is broadening the scope of its business to include telematics services for local delivery vehicles.

The company has established SkyBitz Local Fleets, which it said will offer GPS tracking and driver efficiency and safety tools for fleets of all sizes.

In addition to vehicle location, fleet customers will be able to track the fuel usage, speed and mileage of their vehicles through real-time, automated reporting.

The new business unit is built upon SkyBitz’s recent acquisitions of two commercial telematics companies in the local fleet-management market — Reltima and GPS North America.

“With this launch, SkyBitz is taking the next step in expanding its leadership in commercial telematics,” SkyBitz President Henry Popplewell said. “SkyBitz Local Fleets allows our customers to spend more time working to grow their business while our technology cuts costs through subtle improvements to employee driving habits.”

SkyBitz Local Fleets uses GPS tracking devices that deliver information to a cloud-based platform. It is available on a subscription basis, eliminating the need for upfront investment, SkyBitz said.

The company also has created a customer service group to serve as a resource for users.

SkyBitz, based in Herndon, Virginia, is a subsidiary of Telular Corp.
