Shippers Hear Estimates Curbed for Expedited Cargo Growth

APLES, Fla. — Shippers gathered here for the National Small Shipments Traffic Conference annual meeting heard that the market for expedited cargo moves this year would probably not be as strong as previously expected.

Ted Scherck, chief executive officer of logistics research firm the Colography Group, said his company now expected the expedited business to grow only about 2% this year, or about the same as the overall economy.

He said Colography had lowered its estimate from an earlier 3% projection because of continued economic malaise and effects of the U.S. war against Iraq.
