Senate Committee to Hold Nat-Gas Hearings Next Month

A key Senate committee plans to hold three hearings on natural gas next month, including its use as a transportation fuel.

The hearings were announced in a joint statement Wednesday by Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and ranking member Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).

A May 16 hearing, “Infrastructure, Transportation, Research and Innovation,” will look at the next applications for natural gas and how demand will be met, and at pipeline infrastructure and increased use of natural gas in the transportation sector.

A May 21 hearing will look at domestic supply and exports, and a May 23 hearing will look at shale development and environmental concerns.
