he second snowstorm to strike Colorado in a week piled a fresh two-foot blanket of snow over the state, prompting the closure of Interstate 70 and another gubernatorial declaration of statewide disaster, the Associated Press reported Friday.
As with the blizzard that struck last Thursday, Interstate 70, Colorado’s main East-West highway, was closed between Denver and the Kansas border, AP said.
In addition, the National Weather Service warned that the storm’s fierce winds could billow the falling snow into dangerous, blinding whiteouts, AP reported.
The blizzard also grounded planes at the Denver airport, stranding the passengers of more than 500 canceled flights, AP said.
