Scovel Sworn in as DOT Inspector General

epartment of Transportation secretary Mary Peters on Friday swore in Calvin Scovel as DOT's inspector general.

Scovel, DOT’s sixth inspector general, will be responsible for providing “objective and independent reviews of the efficiency and effectiveness” of the department’s activities, DOT said in a statement.

Scovel, who retired from the Marine Corps as a brigadier general after 29 years, was most recently a senior judge of the United States Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals.



Prior to serving as a senior judge, Scovel was a legal advisor for senior military commanders and the secretary of the Navy.
