Satellite Radio to Beam to Truckers

Peterbilt, Freightliner Add Receivers to New Models
When satellite radio makes its much-anticipated debut in late September, among the first people who will be able to listen to the digital quality sound will be owners of brand new premium trucks from Peterbilt Motors Co.

If it performs as advertised, the new service could give truckers and others the opportunity to listen to their favorite channels from coast to coast without leaving signal range and having to change the station. That’s because satellite coverage, augmented by ground-based amplifiers in certain urban and rural regions with features that block the direct path of the satellite signals, can blanket the nation.
