Saia’s Third-Quarter Earnings Improve

aia Inc., parent of less-than-truckload carrier Saia Motor Freight Line, reported late Tuesday third-quarter net income of $7.7 million or 52 cents a share, up from $7 million or 43 cents a year ago.

Revenue at the former SCS Transportation increased 14% to $226 million, compared with $199 million in the third quarter of 2005.

Saia said its third-quarter earnings include charges of $0.09 per share for equity-based compensation and restructuring expenses.
