Ryder’s First-Quarter Income Jumps

Ryder System said Tuesday its first-quarter profit more than doubled from a year ago.

The Miami-based trucking and logistics company’s net income rose to $25.1 million, or 48 cents per share, from $12.4 million, or 23 cents, a year earlier.

Earnings from continuing operations rose to $25.9 million, or 50 cents per share, compared with $12.9 million, or 23 cents.

Revenue rose 17% to $1.43 billion, while operating revenue rose 14% to $1.13 billion.



Ryder System is ranked No. 5 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
