Ryder to Buy Carmenita Leasing

Ryder System said it will acquire Carmenita Leasing, a California-based truck leasing and rental company.

Ryder will acquire Carmenita’s fleet of 189 trucks, 58 customers and its headquarters in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., Ryder said in a statement Monday.

“This acquisition strengthens our position in the southern California market,” said CEO Greg Swienton.

The Carmenita headquarters will become a new Ryder location, the company said. Ryder has temporarily closed its main Santa Fe Springs location due to a highway project.

The sale will close around Jan. 7. Ryder did not disclose further terms of the acquisition.

Ryder announced last week that it will buy The Scully Companies, a California-based provider of contract carriage, leasing and maintenance.

Earlier this month, Ryder said it would acquire Total Logistic Control from Supervalu Inc.

Ryder is ranked No. 7 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies.
