R+L Carriers, a less-than-truckload company, will spend $7 million to construct a 50,000-square-foot distribution terminal in Hampton County and add up to 25 new jobs in 2017, according to the South Carolina Commerce Department.

The Wilmington, Ohio-based carrier, which ranks No. 8 on the Transport Topics sector list of the top less-than-truckload carriers in the United States and Canada, provides service in all 50 states as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

“[The] announcement by R+L Carriers is another testament to the competitive business environment that South Carolina has to offer,” Gov. Nikki Haley said. “We’re thrilled to see one of our existing companies succeed to the point that it’s able to grow here and congratulate R+L’s leadership on its decision to continue to invest in South Carolina and our people.”
