Questar Fueling Co. said it has opened a new compressed natural gas fueling station in Texas that is the largest CNG station in the United States.

The station, which will be able to serve 200 Class 8 trucks, was built to serve Swift Transportation Co. and Central Freight Lines Inc., but it will be open to the general public as well, Questar said in a Nov. 20 statement.

“We’re pleased to work with such high-profile trucking firms as Central Freight Lines and Swift Transportation,” Craig Wagstaff, COO of Questar Fueling, said in the statement. “We’re confident their move to CNG will provide environmental and economic benefits that will positively impact their businesses, customers and the communities in which they operate.”

Central Freight hopes to have two more natural gas stations opened in Texas, though the company did not say whether Questar would operate them.
