Quality’s 1Q Income, Revenue Improve

Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution said its first-quarter profit improved on higher revenue led by stronger intermodal and logistics operations.

Net income was $2.7 million, or 12 cents per share, up from $800,000, or 4 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose 10.3% t0 $177.9 million.

In the quarter, Quality renamed its trucking segment as its logistics unit and its container segment was as its Intermodal unit, “to better describe the services we perform.”

“Both our core logistics and Boasso [unit’s] intermodal business units delivered stronger year-over-year performance, despite difficult weather conditions”  in the Northeast and Midwest, CEO Gary Enzor said in a statement.

Quality Distribution is ranked No. 36 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
