Qualcomm Reports Earnings, Shipments For Its 2Q
ireless-services provider Qualcomm Inc. reported net income for its second quarter ended March 27 rose to $532 million or 31 cents a share, from $488 million or 29 cents a year earlier.
Revenue climbed 12% to $1.37 billion, the company said in a statement.
The company on March 7 had forecast a second-quarter profit of 25 to 27 cents a share on sales of $1.35 billion to $1.4 billion.
It shipped 13,800 terrestrial-based systems, including OmniExpress, GlobalTracs and T2 Untethered TrailerTracs for tracking trailers.
Those figures compared with about 9,400 satellite and 1,800 terrestrial systems in its previous second quarter, Qualcomm said.
Shipments of satellite-based systems fell from its first quarter, in which it shipped about 13,300 units, it said. But the latest figures for terrestrial shipments were an increase from the 11,600 units posted in the in the first quarter, the company said.
