Qualcomm Inc. announced the launch of its FleetAdvisor fleet management system this month, giving the wireless business service provider the ability for the first time to sell a comprehensive, in-house package of onboard software, hardware and communications technology.
The move comes almost one year after the San Diego-based company acquired the FleetAdvisor trucking software from Eaton Corp. with the intention of penetrating the private fleet market. At the time, about 50 fleets were using the FleetAdvisor system.
Qualcomm has completed integrating FleetAdvisor with its MVPc onboard vehicle computer and the OmniTracs satellite and OmniExpress cellular communication systems, eliminating the need for customers to go through a third-party vendor for onboard trucking applications.
