Qualcomm Debuts New OmniVision Wireless System

ireless-services provider Qualcomm Inc. on Monday debuted its new OmniVision wireless enterprise system for the transportation and logistics industry.

The OmniVision System for Transportation is based on Qualcomm’s new OmniVision mobile computing platform and features a satellite data modem with integrated GPS capabilities and a media display unit, the company said in a statement.

The unit utilizes a touch-screen and a remote control that allows truck drivers to play back messages using a text-to-speech feature, which Qualcomm said would eliminate the need for drivers to pull over in order to read messages.

Qualcomm also said that a turn-by-turn navigation service will be available for system, following OmniVision’s initial launch.
