Traffic was stopped on Okeechobee Road near Miami on June 7 after protesting truckers blocked the road.

Florida Highway Patrol was speaking with the protestors to clear the road, which is west of the Palmetto Expressway, officials said.

The truckers were protesting what they called unfair labor practices.

A similar protest took place earlier in the day in Tallahassee, where a group of truckers slowed traffic to peacefully protest low salaries, high fees and increased regulations, the Tallahasse Democrat reported.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol arrested two people — one for blocking an intersection and resisting arrest with violence and another for impeding the initial arrest.

Miami-Dade and Hialeah police were called to direct traffic toward the Palmetto Expressway.
