Plug-In Power Added at Midwest Truck Stops

Truck stop electrification vendor Shorepower Technologies said its plug-in power service is now available at three new locations in Nebraska and Iowa.

Electrification service has been added at the following truck stops:

• Sapp Bros. Travel Center in Omaha, Neb., at exit 440 on Interstate 80.

• Shoemaker’s Shell Travel Center in Lincoln, Neb., at exit 395 on Interstate 80.

• Broadway Flying J in Williams, Iowa, at exit 144 on Interstate 35.

These three sites join more than a dozen locations already in operation as Shorepower deploys plug-in power to truck stops on major freight corridors.

Shorepower, based in Portland, Ore., said 50 truck stops will add plug-in power pedestals this year through the federally funded Shorepower Truck Electrification Project, administered by Shorepower and non-profit Cascade Sierra Solutions.

By plugging in to grid power, drivers can operate heating and air conditioning systems and use in-cab appliances such as microwaves and televisions without the air pollution, noise and cost of idling their engines. The service is priced at $1 per hour.

Other companies providing truck stop electrification include IdleAir, AireDock and CabAire.
