Pirelli Launches Pentathlon D Tire for Longhaul Applications

Tire maker Pirelli said its TP Commercial Solutions unit launched the Pentathlon D tire, the first in its Pentathlon product line dedicated to premium longhaul drive applications in North America.

Among the Pentathlon D’s features are: a long-lasting dual-layer tread compound, an under-tread compound to provide lower rolling resistance, optimized pattern geometry for even wear, a directional tread pattern for traction in wet or dry situations, and the ability for retreading.

“Pentathlon D provided excellent results in testing against the industry’s most important performance benchmarks of mileage and traction in all conditions. This is a true embodiment of everything the Pirelli brand stands for – high performance, premium quality, innovative technology and industry leadership,” Clif Armstrong, president of TP Commercial Solutions, said in a statement.

Rome, Ga.-based TP Commercial Solutions supplies commercial truck tires and fleet solutions to the global market, the company said.
