Pilot Freight Services Achieves Record Revenue, Shipments in 2016

Privately held logistics provider Pilot Freight Services announced it closed 2016 with record annual revenue of $591 million, up 4.5% from $565 million in the 2015 period.

Also, a record 1.6 million shipments were handled in 2016, an increase of 16% over the prior year, the Lima, Pennsylvania-based company said.

“This accomplishment is a testament to Pilot’s investment in [information technology] amidst a technology-driven industry and its meticulous upkeep of driver and staff training,” Pilot said in a statement.

Its e-commerce/home delivery segment accounted for $172 million, up nearly 40% from a year earlier, and was almost 30% of the company’s overall revenue, Pilot said.



Also, in December 2016, Pilot enjoyed its most successful month in its 45-year history, with monthly revenue totaling $57.2 million, a 6.7% increase from the same month in 2015.

Pilot ranks No. 21 on the Transport Topics Top Airfreight Forwarders list with 220,000 metric tons of freight carried in 2015 and No. 48 on the  Top Warehousing Firms list with 2.8 million square feet of space in 70 locations.
