Personal Spending Unchanged in December

Consumer personal spending was unchanged in December following a 0.1% gain the previous month, the Commerce Department said.

December's unchanged mark was below economists’ median forecast of a 0.1% increase, Bloomberg reported.

Personal incomes climbed 0.5%, the most since March.

A rise in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
