Personal Spending Takes Biggest Jump in Six Months

Consumer personal spending rose 0.6% in March, the biggest jump in six months, the Commerce Department said Monday.

The increase, which followed 0.3% gain in February, matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

Personal incomes rose 0.3%, Commerce said.

An increase in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
