Pegasus TransTech last week announced Frank Adelman as its new CEO, succeeding Bob Helms, who has retired to pursue other interests.

Helms joined Pegasus TransTech as a member of its board of directors a year after the company was formed in 1999.

As chairman and CEO, he oversaw the growth and expansion of the company’s Transflo document management and workflow software, which transportation companies use to electronically process such records as proof of delivery and bills of lading.

“We sincerely thank Bob for his 14-year commitment to the organization and his integral role in developing Pegasus TransTech into the profitable and consistently growing business we have today,” Adelman said in the Oct. 28 statement. “We appreciate his stewardship and vision and wish him luck in his new endeavors.”

Adelman, who was senior vice president prior to his promotion, joined the Tampa, Fla.-based firm in 2004 and has led the company’s efforts to increase market share and drive revenue growth.

He has more than 30 years of transportation industry experience, including more than 20 years in executive leadership roles.

A company spokeswoman said a decision hasn’t yet been made on filling the chairman’s position.

Helms took the reins of Pegasus TransTech as chairman and managing director in 2001.

A year later, the company launched its Transflo Express truck-stop scanning service, which helped the industry move from mailing paper proof-of-delivery documents to sending documents via a paperless, electronic format, the company said.

Today, Transflo Express scanning is available at more than 950 truck stops in the United States and Canada.

During Helms’ tenure as CEO, Pegasus TransTech launched four new services — Transflo Now!, Transflo Mobile, Transflo Velocity and Transflo Load Track — based on electronic transactions running through the company’s data centers in Madison, Wis., and Minneapolis.

The Transflo Mobile smart-phone application expedites document delivery by allowing drivers to scan and submit paperwork to carriers.

The company’s Transflo Velocity software, launched in 2010, enables carriers to submit billing and delivery information electronically to participating freight brokers to get paid faster.

Pegasus TransTech said it reaches more than 300,000 users and serves many of the nation’s largest trucking and logistics companies, including J.B. Hunt, C.H. Robinson, Command Logistics, Schneider National, Knight Transportation, Swift, U.S. Xpress, Landstar, Heartland, Covenant, Celadon and Crete Carriers.

Adelman said that “the future is bright” for Pegasus TransTech. “We continue to innovate in our various product and service offerings, and we are poised to realize critical growth opportunities in the years ahead.”

Helms will remain a consultant and adviser to Pegasus TransTech, the company said.
