LAS VEGAS — G. Clifton Parker is the new chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association, which adjourned its annual meeting here Wednesday morning after two administration officials cancelled appearances.
CA’s 2003 annual meeting will be held in Orlando, Fla., in March of that year.
The president of G&P Trucking Co. in Gaston, S.C., Parker succeeds as chairman Patrick E. Quinn, who is president and co-chairman of U.S. Xpress Enterprises in Chattanooga, Tenn. Quinn becomes the group’s immediate past chairman.
The closing session was originally supposed to feature an address by Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta, who canceled because he was recovering from double-hip-replacement surgery.
Joseph M. Clapp was supposed to stand in for Mineta, but he phoned in a late cancellation as well.
