Panel Advances FRA Nominee Sarah Feinberg to Senate Floor

The Senate Commerce Committee on Oct. 27 easily approved the nomination of Sarah Feinberg to lead the Federal Railroad Administration. Her nomination now goes before the full Senate.

During a hearing in September, Feinberg told the panel she would ensure “careful and appropriate use and deployment of taxpayer dollars and resources.” The committee has jurisdiction over trucking policies.

“At her confirmation hearing, Ms. Feinberg offered assurances that she will lead the Federal Railroad Administration in a transparent and responsive manner if confirmed for the position of administrator by the full Senate," committee Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.) said. "This is a critical time for railroads and Americans who depend on them. Effective leadership that communicates challenges and creates accountability is critically important for our nation’s railroad safety regulator. I appreciate ranking member Bill Nelson’s assistance in reporting Ms. Feinberg’s nomination out of committee.”

Feinberg, a former executive at Facebook, is FRA’s acting administrator.
